Dreamwave AI Review 2026: Pricing, the No-Refund Rule, and Who It Suits

MBy Mucahit KayaUpdated Oct 15, 20263.4/5 · Dreamwave is an AI headshot generator whose natural, recognisable results are praised in three dated Reddit buyer reports, and its 15 October 2026 pricing page lists one-time packages from $35. It is held back by a refund rule that ends once creation starts, a competitor's June 2024 roundup and two 2025 Reddit posts saying the price appeared only after photos were uploaded, a small and low Trustpilot record of 3.1 on 12 reviews, partial hit rates in the few batches users have described, and privacy terms that reach us mostly through a competitor's summary.

Dreamwave sells one-time headshot packages. Its pricing page, read on 15 October 2026, listed 40 photos for $35, 60 for $45 and 100 for $99, but third-party pages quote different photo counts, so confirm the total on dreamwave.ai before you upload anything: per Dreamwave's FAQ, creation starts at upload and refunds are not offered after that point.

Pros

  • Dated Reddit buyers describe Dreamwave results as natural and not over-retouched, one calling them not Facetuned 'to the point of being a catfish' (r/HENRYUK, February 2025)
  • In a July 2025 likeness test run by a competing company's engineer, Dreamwave had the highest average similarity of the five tools measured
  • One-time packages, with $35 for 40 photos as the entry point on the pricing page read 15 October 2026
  • Dreamwave's page now says one clear photo is enough to start, where 2024 buyers described uploading several
  • A team route and an events or photobooth offering exist alongside personal packages

Cons

  • Per Dreamwave's FAQ, creation starts the moment you upload and refunds are not offered after that, so the whole package is spent before you see one result
  • Two Reddit posts from March and July 2025 reported that the price only appeared after uploading photos, one quoting $69 for a single portrait
  • Hit rates in user reports are partial: one buyer counted about 20 strong likenesses in a 120-image batch, another said none looked like them
  • The Trustpilot profile read on 15 October 2026 showed 3.1 on 12 reviews and was unclaimed
  • The top package costs more per photo ($0.99) than the middle one ($0.75)
  • No standing free tier was found, so there is no way to check likeness before paying

If you searched "Dreamwave AI review", you are probably deciding whether to send your selfies, and somewhere between $35 and $99, to Dreamwave for a LinkedIn photo, a CV portrait or a team page. This review covers the AI headshot generator at dreamwave.ai, a small US company that turns uploaded photos into studio-style portraits. It is not about the dream-journal app or the AI research lab that share the Dreamwave name. Every figure below names its source and the date it was read, and the user reports are linked so you can check them yourself.

Is Dreamwave AI worth it?

Dreamwave is worth it for one kind of buyer: someone who wants natural-looking portraits, accepts that only part of each batch will look like them, and is comfortable paying with no route back once the photos are uploaded. Dreamwave's own FAQ, read on 15 October 2026, says refunds are not offered once creation starts, and that starts at upload.

That combination sets the decision. If you need a money-back safety net or want to see a sample of your own face before paying, a tool with a free tier or a guarantee is the safer first step, and our comparison of AI headshot generators sets those terms side by side. If you have already seen Dreamwave samples you like and the package total suits you, the user record says the output is often good.

What is Dreamwave AI and how does it work?

Dreamwave AI is a paid web service that generates professional headshots from photos you upload, sold as one-time packages of 40 to 100 images. Dreamwave's headshot page, read on 15 October 2026, says one clear photo is enough to start and puts the time from start to finished gallery at about two hours.

Earlier buyers describe a heavier process. A February 2024 commenter on r/PhotoshopRequests described uploading a few photos and receiving 120 headshots, and Dreamwave's pages have also described a five-photo upload for more than 100 headshots. The one-photo input is Dreamwave's current statement; no independent report confirms how results from a single photo compare.

Output size is the other unknown. None of the sources read for this review, Dreamwave's pricing and headshot pages included, states the resolution or file format of the finished portraits; BetterPic advertises 4K for its own output, but no comparable figure was found for Dreamwave. If you need a portrait for print or a large banner, check the pixel size of a sample or ask Dreamwave before paying.

Dreamwave says it has delivered more than 16 million headshots, a figure from its reviews page that directories repeat as high as 25 million. A RankmyAI profile from August 2026 lists Dreamwave as a US company of 2 to 10 employees, about three years in business, with no public API. Neither the delivery count nor the customer names Dreamwave advertises could be independently confirmed.

How much does Dreamwave AI cost?

Dreamwave's pricing page, read on 15 October 2026, listed three one-time packages: 40 photos for $35, 60 photos for $45 and 100 photos for $99. Those are the figures this review uses, but they are not the only ones in circulation, and the disagreement is worth knowing before you pay.

Package (read 15 Oct 2026)PricePhotosCost per photo
Entry$3540$0.88
Middle$4560$0.75
Top$99100$0.99

BetterPic's review of Dreamwave, updated August 2026, lists $35, $59 and $99 for 75, 150 and 300 photos, and a November 2025 roundup on r/Best_AI_headshots quoted about $35 for 75 photos. A 2025 directory listing on similarlabs.com quoted $29.99 and $49.99 tiers. Dreamwave appears to have changed its photo counts more than once, so the number that counts is the one on dreamwave.ai on the day you buy.

When does Dreamwave show the price?

On 15 October 2026 Dreamwave's prices were readable on its public pricing page, but earlier sources said the price appeared only after photos were uploaded. In 2024 that came from HeadshotPro's June roundup, written by a competitor, not a buyer; in 2025 it came from two Reddit posts.

In March 2025 DK_Stark, a poster on r/AIToolTesting whose roundups favour BetterPic, wrote that Dreamwave's "Pricing's a mystery till you upload". In July 2025 a poster on r/generativeAI wrote that after uploading, "the site finally showed the price: $69 for just ONE portrait!" Two reports are too few to call it a pattern, and the public pricing page suggests the flow may have changed. It matters because of the refund rule: if the price appears after upload, creation may already have started.

What does a Dreamwave headshot cost per photo?

At the 15 October 2026 prices, a Dreamwave photo costs between $0.75 and $0.99, and the middle package is the cheapest per image. The $99 top package costs more per photo than the $45 one, so the extra $54 buys 40 more images at a higher unit rate. The top package is not a volume discount.

The more useful number is cost per usable photo, which nobody publishes for Dreamwave. One April 2025 buyer on r/headshots counted about 20 "dead ringers" in a 120-image batch from 12 uploaded photos. If a 60-photo package returned keepers at a similar one-in-six rate, $45 would buy about 10 usable portraits at roughly $4.50 each. That is arithmetic on a single report, not a measured rate, and it still undercuts a studio session by a wide margin.

Is there a Dreamwave free tier or discount code?

No standing free tier appeared on Dreamwave's pricing page on 15 October 2026. A directory listing on similarlabs.com says a free option exists, but its own pricing section lists paid plans only. Discount and referral codes do circulate on Reddit, mostly in posts by accounts sharing their own referral links; none was verified for this review.

When is a single Dreamwave package not enough?

A single Dreamwave package stops being enough the moment your result depends on something you cannot check before paying: your likeness from thin input, a specific background, or one consistent look across several people. Because Dreamwave has no free tier and no refund after upload, each of those is a risk you buy into in full.

Likeness is the first limit. Dreamwave now says one photo will do, but every dated report describing partial results comes from buyers who uploaded more than that. If your face changes a lot with angle, glasses or lighting, the safe move is to give Dreamwave more varied input than the minimum, if the upload flow allows it, and to treat the first package as a test you pay for.

Read Dreamwave's photo guidelines before you upload, because its FAQ names input photos that do not follow them as a reason refunds are not offered. The guideline text itself was not read for this review, so no specific rule is repeated here. What the dated reports do suggest is variety: the buyers who described their uploads sent several photos, and the misses they report are about likeness, so photos taken at different angles, in different light, and with and without glasses (if you wear them) give the model more of your face to work from.

Backgrounds are the second. HeadshotPro's June 2024 roundup, written by a competitor who disclosed his bias, rated Dreamwave's solid-colour backdrops well and its photorealistic office and outdoor scenes weaker. That is two years old and from a rival, but no newer source contradicts it. If you need a realistic office behind you, look at Dreamwave's current samples before buying.

Teams are the third. A personal package gives one person their own set; it does not give five colleagues a matching background and lighting. Dreamwave sells a separate team route for that, and buying several personal packages instead is how teams end up with portraits that do not match on the website.

Does Dreamwave AI offer a refund?

No, not once you upload. Dreamwave's FAQ, read on 15 October 2026, says the service begins creating your headshots the moment your photos are uploaded and that refunds are not offered after that point, nor when input photos do not follow its guidelines. HeadshotPro's June 2024 roundup also listed Dreamwave as having no money-back guarantee.

In practice, the purchase is final at upload. You cannot try a package, dislike the likeness and get your money back, which is the structural difference from HeadshotPro's money-back Realism Guarantee or BetterPic's $0 tier. Dreamwave's team offering is described in one competing review as carrying a free-redo guarantee, but that review does not define the terms, and they were not confirmed against Dreamwave's own pages here.

If a charge goes wrong, for example a duplicate payment or a package that never arrives, the route left is your card issuer's dispute process. That is general consumer advice, not a statement about how Dreamwave handles disputes, and it does not cover simply disliking the results.

Does Dreamwave AI auto-renew or charge again?

Dreamwave's pricing page, read on 15 October 2026, presents its packages as one-time purchases with no subscription term listed, yet two reviewers on its Trustpilot profile describe being charged for a renewal. One wrote in May 2025 that "Dreamwave automatically billed me for a subscription renewal I did not sign up for", that Dreamwave said it could not refund it, and closed by telling readers to "find a different AI portrait company", so that complaint is about the headshot service. The other, in June 2025, reported "another charge a year later for a subscription" and requested a chargeback, but does not name a product, and the same profile carries reviews of an unrelated subscription app, so it may not concern headshots at all. Neither report is recent and the current checkout may differ, so read the terms on the payment screen before paying, and check your card statement the following month.

Other complaints on that profile, read the same day, include the free offer, a refused refund and unanswered support. Reviewers in July 2024 and August 2025 describe being asked to pay after uploading photos to what had been presented as free, and others describe a refund refused under the terms (May 2025) and a download link that never arrived, with no reply from support (May 2025). One September 2026 review praises an easy interface and same-day results (September 2026). No support email, chat or phone route for Dreamwave appeared in the sources read for this review, so find the contact option on dreamwave.ai before you pay, not after a problem.

Are Dreamwave AI headshots realistic?

Dreamwave's headshots are realistic often enough that one dated buyer called it the best tool they tried and another called the results pretty natural, but not reliably enough that every image in a batch looks like you. The praise and the misses come from the same small pool of reports, so both are real.

On the positive side, an April 2024 commenter on r/artificial called it "the best AI headshot generator I tried", saying the headshots looked exactly like them. A February 2025 commenter on r/HENRYUK said the results look "pretty natural" and not over-retouched. Our Aragon AI review found Dreamwave named more true-to-life than Aragon in dated head-to-head threads through 2025.

One measured test points the same way, with a caveat attached. In July 2025 an engineer at InstaHeadshots, a competing headshot company, ran 16 selfies through five tools and scored face similarity; Dreamwave had the highest average similarity of the five. The test was published by a rival, not an independent lab. A June 2026 roundup on r/AIPhotoGen, posted by an account that promotes ProShoot, gave Dreamwave a 22 out of 25 face score and called it the best "clean professional look" while ranking ProShoot ahead.

How many Dreamwave headshots actually look like you?

The few buyers who counted report that a minority of each Dreamwave batch are strong likenesses, and one reported none. The April 2025 r/headshots buyer wrote that "Many did not look exactly like me, but about 20 are dead ringers". The February 2024 r/PhotoshopRequests commenter said of 120 headshots that "some were good and some did not look like me". In May 2023 a commenter on r/headshots wrote that "none of the headshots look anything like me."

Three counts cannot give a keeper rate, and Dreamwave publishes none. What they do show is that the output varies by person, which is why the no-refund rule weighs more heavily here than the per-photo price.

Does Dreamwave do photorealistic backgrounds or solid backdrops better?

The only dated source on this, HeadshotPro's June 2024 roundup, found Dreamwave's solid-colour backdrops strong and its photorealistic backgrounds weaker. HeadshotPro is a competitor and its author disclosed a strong bias, and the test predates two years of product changes. The same roundup noted that Dreamwave's automatic teeth correction worked well and that eyes were where the results were least convincing. Treat all three points as dated observations to check against current samples.

None of the dated buyer reports describes choosing clothing, a specific backdrop or a style before generation, and none says the option is missing. If a particular outfit or a branded background colour matters to you, confirm on Dreamwave's site what you can pick before uploading, since the choice cannot be changed into a refund afterwards.

What do real users report about Dreamwave AI?

Twelve dated Reddit reports from May 2023 to June 2026 describe Dreamwave, and they split into a consistent picture: good likeness when it lands, partial batches, cost and convenience as the reason to choose it, and frustration with pricing visibility. Seven are first-hand buyer accounts; the other five are second-hand or come from people connected to competing products, and are labelled below.

Cost and convenience are the most common reason buyers give for picking Dreamwave over a photographer. A September 2025 commenter on r/norfolk called it "Much more affordable and easier than traditional headshot process." In March 2025 a commenter on r/ExecutiveAssistants passed on a friend's experience: her headshots "look great" and she believed she paid $20. That is second-hand and the price does not match any current package.

Mixed and negative reports focus on likeness misses and pricing. Beyond the quotes above, the November 2025 r/Best_AI_headshots roundup, written by someone relaying others' views, noted that "Some user reviews warn of issues (customer service, quality)" without linking them.

What does Dreamwave's Trustpilot rating show?

Dreamwave's Trustpilot profile showed a TrustScore of 3.1 out of 5 from 12 reviews when read on 15 October 2026, and the profile was unclaimed by the company. Twelve reviews is a very small base, and Trustpilot's score is weighted, not a simple average, so it says little about typical outcomes. Magic Studio's September 2026 comparison quoted 2.8 from 3 reviews, which no longer matches the profile. The base is also smaller than twelve. At least two of the twelve reviews are about a different product altogether: one complains that "there are much better streaming platforms" (August 2026), another about paying for tokens for video episodes (July 2026). Trustpilot also lists separate profiles under dreamwave.co and dreamwave.com, so check the domain on any rating you read, and the profile itself notes that the company has not invited its customers to review, so "reviews may not be representative".

Do Dreamwave's claims match what users report?

Partly. Dreamwave's headshot page, read on 15 October 2026, promises studio-grade portraits that look like you without an artificial AI look. The user record supports the natural look in several cases and contradicts likeness in others.

Dreamwave saysWhat dated reports show
Headshots that look like you, without the AI lookPraised as natural in 2024 and 2025; one buyer found about 20 strong likenesses in a large batch, another found none
Package purchase, with no refund once creation starts at uploadTwo 2025 reports say the price appeared only after uploading, which leaves no exit if the price is a surprise
One clear photo to start, about two hours to a galleryEarlier buyers describe uploading several photos; no dated report yet on single-photo results
More than 16 million headshots deliveredNot independently verifiable; directories repeat figures up to 25 million, and a directory profile lists 2 to 10 employees

What has changed at Dreamwave?

Dreamwave's input requirement, package sizes and price visibility have all shifted since 2024, which is why older reviews disagree with each other.

  • June 2024: HeadshotPro's roundup ranks Dreamwave runner-up, notes pricing hidden until after upload and no money-back guarantee.
  • 2025: a similarlabs.com directory listing quotes $29.99 and $49.99 tiers.
  • February 2024 to April 2025: buyers describe uploading several photos and receiving batches of around 120 images.
  • March and July 2025: two Reddit posters report seeing the price only after upload, one quoting $69 for one portrait.
  • November 2025: a Reddit roundup quotes about $35 for 75 photos.
  • August 2026: BetterPic's competitor review lists 75, 150 and 300 photo packages.
  • 15 October 2026: Dreamwave's pricing page lists 40, 60 and 100 photos for $35, $45 and $99, and its headshot page says one clear photo and about two hours.

Is Dreamwave AI safe and legit?

Dreamwave is a working service on the dated record: the Reddit buyers quoted in this review describe receiving their headshots. One Trustpilot reviewer says otherwise for their own paid order, reporting in May 2025 "I never got the download link" and no answer from support, and another, in August 2025, says the product advertised as free was "not delivered at all". One report does not make a pattern, but it sits on top of the real risks, a refund rule that ends at upload and an unclaimed Trustpilot profile at 3.1 on 12 reviews.

Dreamwave delivers portraits to paying customers, according to the dated Reddit buyer reports above, but most of what is known about its data handling comes from Dreamwave's own statements as relayed by a competitor. Dreamwave's pages describe a privacy-first approach that deletes customer photos; the detail sits in its privacy policy, which was not read directly for this review.

What happens to the photos you upload to Dreamwave?

BetterPic's August 2026 review of Dreamwave summarises Dreamwave's stated terms as: photos deleted after 30 days of inactivity, processing in the US only, no training on customer photos and no sale of data. BetterPic sells a competing product, and these points were not confirmed against Dreamwave's privacy policy here. No security certification is named in any source this review drew on. If the photos are of employees and not of yourself, get the retention and deletion terms in writing before anyone uploads.

Can you use Dreamwave headshots commercially?

None of the sources available for this review states Dreamwave's commercial-use terms for the generated portraits. Using a headshot on LinkedIn or a CV is the normal case; if you plan to put Dreamwave portraits in paid advertising, printed marketing or a press kit, read the licence clause in Dreamwave's terms first.

Who is Dreamwave AI for, and who should skip it?

Dreamwave suits individuals who want a natural-looking professional photo, have seen samples they like, and can treat $35 to $45 as a non-refundable bet on their own likeness. It is the wrong choice for anyone who needs to see a result before paying, needs a refund route, needs a realistic office background or needs an API.

Is Dreamwave good for LinkedIn profile photos?

Dreamwave fits the LinkedIn case well, because one good headshot is all a profile needs, and two of the three buyers who counted their batch found at least some strong likenesses. A batch where 20 of many images look right is a success for a LinkedIn photo, even though it would be a poor rate for a team page.

Is Dreamwave good for real estate agent headshots?

Dreamwave can produce a usable agent headshot, but an agent's photo goes on signs, listings and print, so likeness has to be exact. With no refund after upload, an agent should check Dreamwave's samples closely or start with a tool that offers a free preview or a guarantee, and should read the commercial-use terms before printing.

Can Dreamwave do matching team or event headshots?

Dreamwave sells a team route and an events offering, separate from personal packages. One competing review describes the team route as 150 photos per user, a two-hour turnaround and a dedicated account manager; those figures were not confirmed against Dreamwave's own pages here. Magic Studio's September 2026 comparison, written by a competitor, conceded that Dreamwave is the stronger of the two for events and photobooths. For a company-wide set where admins control the look, HeadshotPro for company-wide sets publishes a per-person team price.

How do you buy Dreamwave safely?

Check the live package total on dreamwave.ai, read the refund wording and the photo guidelines in the FAQ, and compare Dreamwave's current samples with the look you need, all before you upload anything. Upload is the step that makes the purchase final, so it should be the last thing you do, and keep the order confirmation in case you need your card issuer later.

What are the best Dreamwave AI alternatives?

The three alternatives worth comparing are BetterPic, HeadshotPro and Aragon AI, and the choice comes down to whether you want a free preview, a guarantee or speed. AI Tools Police sells no headshot product, so none of these is our own. The full AI headshot comparison ranks all four.

Dreamwave vs BetterPic

BetterPic is the alternative to try first if likeness is the worry, because its standing $0 tier returns 10 headshots at 4K before you spend anything, which Dreamwave cannot match. BetterPic's free tier sits in a queue behind paid orders, and its refund pays nothing once you download an image. What Dreamwave has is the natural-look praise in the dated reports above, which you only get to judge after paying.

Dreamwave vs HeadshotPro

HeadshotPro is the safer purchase on terms: one-time packs from $29 for 30 headshots, nothing that renews, and a money-back Realism Guarantee that Dreamwave does not offer, though it is forfeited the moment you download an image. HeadshotPro also has the clearer team route. Note that HeadshotPro published the 2024 roundup that ranked Dreamwave runner-up to itself.

Dreamwave vs Aragon AI

Aragon AI sells similar one-time packs, about $35 for 40 headshots, and advertises faster delivery and a 90 to 95 percent keeper rate that independent estimates put nearer 10 to 25 percent. The dated head-to-head threads quoted in the Aragon review linked above favour Dreamwave on realism. Aragon AI at least advertises a usable-shot guarantee, which Dreamwave does not.

How we reviewed Dreamwave, and what we did not test

This review is based on Dreamwave's own pages (pricing, headshot product page and FAQ, read on 15 October 2026), its Trustpilot profile read the same day, a RankmyAI directory profile, three competitor-published reviews (BetterPic, Magic Studio and HeadshotPro), and twelve dated Reddit reports, each linked above. We did not buy a Dreamwave package, upload photos or generate headshots, and nothing on this page describes a test we ran. Where a source has a commercial interest, such as a competing headshot company, it is named as such next to its claim.

Prices and policies change, and Dreamwave's have changed several times since 2024. Check the figures on dreamwave.ai before you buy; the dates above show when each one was read.

AI Tools Police has no headshot product of its own. Some links to tool vendors on this site may be affiliate links, which pay us a commission if you buy; that does not change what a review says, and the alternatives above are ordered by fit, not by any payment.

Frequently asked questions

Is Dreamwave AI legit?

Dreamwave is a real, US-based headshot service at dreamwave.ai that delivers the portraits buyers pay for, according to dated Reddit reports from 2024 to 2025, though one Trustpilot reviewer in May 2025 says the download link never arrived. Legit is not the same as low-risk. A directory profile from August 2026 lists 2 to 10 employees, the Trustpilot profile read on 15 October 2026 showed 3.1 on 12 reviews, and Dreamwave's FAQ rules out refunds once creation starts.

How much does Dreamwave AI cost?

Dreamwave's pricing page, read on 15 October 2026, listed three one-time packages: 40 photos for $35, 60 for $45 and 100 for $99. Third-party pages quote 75, 150 and 300 photos at similar prices, and one July 2025 buyer reported $69 for a single portrait, so confirm the total on dreamwave.ai before uploading.

Does Dreamwave AI give refunds?

Not after you upload. Dreamwave's FAQ, read on 15 October 2026, says the service starts creating as soon as photos are uploaded and that refunds are not offered once that happens, or when input photos do not follow its guidelines.

Is there a Dreamwave free trial or discount code?

No standing free tier was found on Dreamwave's pricing page on 15 October 2026, and one directory that claims a free option contradicts itself in its own pricing section. Discount codes circulate on Reddit as referral posts; none was verified for this review.

Do Dreamwave headshots look like you?

Often, but not every image. Dated buyers describe natural, recognisable results, while one counted about 20 strong likenesses in a 120-image batch and another said none resembled them. Plan on picking a minority of keepers from each batch.

BetterPic

3.9/5

BetterPic turns uploaded selfies into 10 to 120 professional headshots, at 4K on every tier including a standing $0 one, and it is the only headshot tool we have reviewed that publishes a price for a developer SDK and API, $299 a month. Paid packs are one-time: $1.75 per headshot on Basic, about $0.65 on Pro and Expert. BetterPic publishes no keeper-rate figure, and its refund pays nothing once you download a single image.

HeadshotPro

3.8/5

HeadshotPro turns uploaded selfies into a batch of 30 to 70 professional headshots as a one-time purchase, priced $29 to $59 for individuals or from $19.50 per person for teams, with nothing that renews. Every pack carries a 100 percent money-back Realism Guarantee, but independent reports put the realistic keeper rate near 10 to 33 percent, and the guarantee is forfeited the moment you download a single image from the order.

Aragon AI

3.7/5

Aragon AI turns 6 or more selfies into a pack of 40, 60, or 100 professional headshots (about $35 to $75) for LinkedIn, resumes, and team pages, advertised at 15 to 45 minutes per tier. It claims a 90-95% keeper rate, but the one independent test puts the realistic figure nearer 10-25%, with one dated report as low as 5 of 100. A 14-day usable-shot guarantee is advertised, though refunds are reported as hard to get once photos are generated.

Four paid tiers run from Pro Annual at $9.99 to Business at $34.99 a month, metered by monthly AI credits, and Decktopus's own pages describe its entry tier inconsistently. Exported PowerPoint files arrive as non-editable images, not an editable text layer.
